Here are his “Final Thoughts”:

The finish on this Lot 23 was medium in body, but full in flavor. The wood and leather nuances lingered in balance with the grassy sweetness of the tobacco. Within the last third, the spice of the cigar danced on the palate again, much like that of hot cinnamon.

The Perdomo Lot 23 produced a firm white ash, and a solid burn line. No issues were noted with the overall burn of this cigar, and the consistency from cigar to cigar has been outstanding.

The Perdomo Lot 23 Maduro continues to age well and delivers defined flavors without being overly complex. This cigar possesses great construction, quality and value. While I doubt that a box of these would sit in your humidor for 5 years, I believe that they would age well and continue to increase in complexity up to 5 years. It is with that in mind, that I can assign an Aging Potential Score of “B” for the Perdomo Lot 23 Maduro.

The new Perdomo Exhibicion Torpedo, is a monster of a cigar. Call it what you will, a pyramid or torpedo (I believe the two terms are interchangeable, as opposed to the ‘belicoso’ vitola) but this cigar is huge, coming in at 6 1/2 inches x 54 ring gauge.

The pre-light draw was perfect and showed good flavour. A rum-n-raisin, chocolate ice-cream taste was evident and proved to continue once the cigar was lit.

The first few puffs were filled with intense spice on the palate and nearly knoecked me over. Not just a normal cigar spiciness, it was like I was eating a jungle curry from the House of Flames Thai restaurant* down the road. I love a hot curry and found the cigar very interesting from this point forward.

For those who aren’t fans of uber spicy cigars, don’t let this put you off as after 5 or so puffs, the intense heat dissipated and a superb toasted fruit and nut profile carries its course through the first third.

Final Thoughts
After smoking a few more of the Perdomo Reserve 10th Anniversary Champagne I can see why they are such a popular stick among the folks that frequent the small shop I work in. This cigar is mild, however, it yields inviting flavors that I think most cigar smokers can appreciate. Also, the construction of this cigar is really top notch. It’s not every day that over half of a toro can be smoked before the first ash falls.

I personally think that just about anyone can find something to like about the Perdomo Champagne. It might not be the powerhouse that you prefer, but it’s smooth creamy character would be perfect with a morning cup of coffee. This cigar is worth buying a 5 pack, and possibly worth a box purchase for someone that enjoys milder cigars.

This is one fine looking smoke!

The wrapper is excellent as well as the construction.

The wrapper had a very distinct buttery cream smell.

Once lit it burned evenly even though it was smoked in a vehicle.

The flavors are what make this cigar unique.  The wrapper provides a buttery taste, while the filler balances that with a peppery spice.

It started off medium in body and finished very mild.

I highly recommend trying one of these.  It is one of the more unique cigars I have had lately.

Overall, the cigar did not transition too much from it’s primary flavors. Once you get into the heart of the cigar, it pretty much gives you consistent enjoyable flavors of mocha, sweet cream and spice, then eventually rich leather, roasted nuts and smooth aged tobacco with a long finish. I had no complaints with the medium body and lack of a red pepper kick. However, there was some ligero present, it just doesn’t slap you around like a fuller-bodied peppery smoke. This cigar seemed intent on keeping me relaxed and comfortable. On that note, I strongly believe this is a cigar that everyone can enjoy. My husband, who prefers mild cigars, took a few draws off my cigar and almost didn’t give it back. The nerve of him!
